Thank you for your interest regarding a post with Bolton Sixth Form College. The following advice is designed to help you in completing the application form as effectively as possible.

  • READ THE FORM - Read the form through before you complete it. Please complete it in full. Please DO NOT send your Curriculum Vitae unless you are specifically required to do so.
  • JOB DESCRIPTION – Make sure you read the Job Description and Further Information before completing the application form.
  • REFERENCES – Please give your present or previous employer(s) as referee(s). Avoid giving personal contacts as your referee(s). We usually write for references before interview.
  • EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES – Bolton Sixth Form College is an Equal Opportunities Employer. Please complete the monitoring sheet and return it with your application. The information provided will be used solely for monitoring purposes only and will be treated as confidential. It will be separated from the application form before shortlisting takes place.
  • HEALTH – If you are successful in your application, you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire. This will be submitted to the College’s nominated medical practitioner who will then decide if a medical examination is necessary. Please note that we ask referees about absences through illness. Please indicate on the application form the number of days absent for illness in the last two years. Feel free to add a comment if you wish.
  • SENDING THE FORM – Please send this form to the address specified, by the closing date on the application form. Keep a photocopy for your records.
  • IF YOU ARE SHORTLISTED you will be contacted by letter or telephone inviting you for an interview. It is not our policy to acknowledge applications nor to contact candidates is they have not been shortlisted. No discourtesy is meant by this. You will appreciate that our resources are channelled into student care as much as possible.
  • SALARY - The contract is as advised by the Sixth Form Colleges Employers’ Forum and agreed with Trade Unions. Salary will be assessed, according to qualifications and experience, on the Sixth Form College Teachers’ Salary Spine and Support Staff Salary Spine.

The list below will help you in providing the relevant documentation.

Either one of these documents:

  • A UK or European Economic Area Passport
  • A UK residence permit issued to a national from a EEA country or Switzerland
  • A UK endorsed travel document

or

A document with evidence of a permanent NI number (P45 / P60) and one of the following:

  • A Birth Certificate
  • A Certificate of naturalisation / registration as UK citizen
  • An endorsed letter from the Home Office

A work permit issued by Work Permits UK and one of the following:

  • A passport or travel document endorsed by the UK Home Office
  • An endorsed letter issued by the UK Home Office
