Record Breaking A-Levels for our Students

Once again the College is proud to join with hundreds of students in celebrating a fantastic set of results in both A level and advanced vocational courses. This is always a nervous time for students and their teachers, but the results today are fully deserved and are a result of many months of hard work and dedication. In 23 subjects at A level the pass rate was 100%, with an overall pass rate of 96%. In vocational subjects the pass rate was a remarkable 100%, and over 70% of the students achieved merit or distinction grades. The vast majority of students will now continue their studies at university.

A large number of students achieved outstanding individual results. The following are amongst a number of students who achieved top grades at A Level or BTEC National: Nilufar Patel, James Orrell, Anthony Hart, Jonathan Doyle, Chris Oldfield, Anisa Mohamed, Aamir Ayub, Annise Makki, and Sophie Pitchford.

College Principal Steve Wetton comments: "The pressure on staff and students to achieve good results seems to get greater each year - yet each year we are delighted to see the students achieve just reward for all their efforts over their time at College. The College prides itself on the opportunities it offers Bolton's young people. It offers a wide and comprehensive curriculum that is accessible to all and it is a real delight to see all students, the high flyers and those for whom studying has been a challenge, succeed and progress on to higher education or employment. I would like to send my personal congratulations to all our students and best wishes for the future."

The College is going through exciting times at present; the new Farnworth campus is now a year old, and is rapidly establishing itself as the leading provider of post-16 education in the south of the town and work is progressing rapidly on the Town Centre site, which will open in August next year.

Enrolment for students starting in September this year begins next Thursday and more details can be obtained on making a late application from the College on 0800 052 1460.
