A Level Politics Students explore career pathways with Councillor Graham WhithamDate Posted: 26/11/2018 | Posted In: A Level, College News, Student News
A Level Politics students were visited by Councillor Graham Whitham, who spoke to them about about the various career options available to them.
Graham gave students an insight into his own career journey, which began in Westminster and has led to Graham establishing the charity, Greater Manchester Poverty Action. GM Poverty Action coordinates networks of organisations and individuals to reduce poverty across Greater Manchester. They provide opportunities, ideas and support to encourage and strengthen collaboration, and collectively influence policy and practice to address poverty in Greater Manchester.
Alongside his passion for tackling poverty within the region, Graham was recently elected as a Councillor for Davyhulme West. During his talk, he encouraged students to think about the many skills they have acquired by studying politics, including – research skills, the capacity to critically analyse evidence and construct coherent arguments, as well as excellent oratory skills, all of which will be an asset in whatever degree course and career path they choose to follow.
