English students get creativeDate Posted: 21/11/2017 | Posted In: A Level, College News, Student News
English students visited the University of Bolton for a creative writing workshop to enhance their learning experience. Students discussed the work of Elizabeth Bishop by exploring her biography and comparing the final piece with her first draft. Working with university lecturers, students looked at the process of drafting and completed four short writing tasks which were used to create poems of their own. The sessions were linked to the exam which students will sit next summer, with advice on how to respond to writing prompts and stimulus texts. Students had an engaging and informative afternoon and University staff expressed how impressed they were with the standard of their writing.
