Futures Academy students visited London recently, to develop their Health and Social Care academic course content and experience what the capital has to offer.
Students visited a number of museums which highlighted the history of medicine. This included learning about the history of Florence Nightingale often referred to as the ‘Lady with the lamp’ and how her contribution to the nursing profession revolutionised the way in which patients are cared for today. Students also visited the Old Operating Theatre, one of the oldest surviving operating theatres in the world to learn how medical techniques have evolved over time as well as a visit to the former home of Psychotherapist Sigmund Freud.
This experience will help to shape the content of their application to university and provide them with an opportunity to stand out from the crowd.
