Health & Social Care students took part in a Medical Mavericks event in College. The Medical Mavericks team work with the next generation of medics and scientists by taking real medical and sports science equipment into schools and colleges. Students took part in the Mini Medics Workshop gaining advanced and in depth knowledge about data collection, analysis and diagnosis. A wide range of interactive activities included measuring blood vessel diameter and circumferences with an ultrasound, lung volumes, respiration rates, taking fake blood and recording an ECG! Students were also able to wear a range of goggles which imitate visual impairments, for example, how your vision would change after having a stroke. The event gave students an insight into a greater range of health care careers available to them.
