Students share a festive taleDate Posted: 21/12/2017 | Posted In: A Level, College News, Student News
Performing Arts Enrichment students brought the classic festive tale A Christmas Carol to College this week. Students delivered performances over two evenings and wowed audiences with their fantastic skills and professionalism.
A Christmas Carol is a novel by Charles Dickens about Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man, who is well-known for his miserly ways. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by a series of ghosts, starting with his old business partner, Jacob Marley. The three spirits which follow, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come, show Scrooge how his mean behaviour has affected those around him. At the end of the story he is relieved to discover that there is still time for him to change and we see him transformed into a generous and kind-hearted human being.
“A HUGE well done to all of the Performing Arts Enrichment Students for an absolutely brilliant show the last two nights! The whole process has been a joy to work on and I could not be more proud of each and every one of you! Thank you so much to everyone involved both on and off the stage; from lifting set, playing instruments, pouring mulled wine, painting faces, decorating spaces and spreading lots of festive cheer. Thank you also to everyone who came along and supported… What a wonderful start to the Christmas break!… In the words of Tiny Tim… “God bless us, everyone!” Gemma Cooper, Teacher of Performing Arts.
A special thank you to Cheadle Hulme School for the loan of the Victorian costumes, Bolton University Stage Management, Beccy Barnes, Proscenium Set Hire and all the students and their parents and guardians involved in the production.
