A Dream Job For Lewis

Well done to Lewis Roper who has gained a place at Sheffield Hallam University to study for his dream job as a Paramedic. Lewis who is studying a Triple Vocational A Level in Health & Social Care is also part of the Futures Academy at College. The Futures Academy which currently concentrates on Health and Social Care and Business, gives opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of areas linked to a chosen career pathway. Academy students take part in master lectures by industry professionals, gain work-based experience and engage in study link tours. The extra skills and experience gives student the edge when applying for university and beyond. 

Q & A – Lewis Roper

Q: Why did you decide to apply for the Futures Academy?

The degree course I applied for is very competitive and so extra experience is needed alongside good academic achievement. I heard about what the Futures Academy offered and decided that it would help me to become a Paramedic.

Q: How has the Futures Academy prepared you for your career?

It has helped me developed better interview and communication skills and has provided me with a very good insight into careers in the NHS.

Q: What are your highlights so far?

Visiting Chester University and participating in an actual Paramedic task as well as learning about the history of Medicine in London.

Q: Would you recommend Futures Academy to other students?

Absolutely. Its been brilliant! I’ve gained so many new skills and grown in confidence!
