Prevent & British Values DayDate Posted: 18/10/2018 | Posted In: College News, Student News
Prevent and British Values Day took place in College this week. Students discussed British Values and identified what makes someone British. After taking the Citizenship test, students generated ideas exploring better ways of deciding what makes someone British. Afterwards, they pitched their ideas in groups to the rest of the class. Themes of Democracy, Rule of Law, Tolerance and Mutual Respect and Individual Liberty were explored and how they mirror our own College values. Students also attended workshops relating to staying safe and the Prevent Government strategy.
Puppeteer and youth engagement specialist Steve Wright from Routes Puppets, visited College exploring themes of British Values, Equality & Diversity, Radicalisation and Hate Crime through his puppet performance. Steve’s performance helped to explain some difficult issues in an engaging and inspiring way. Staff and students found the event both informative and thought-provoking.
