Futures Academy meet the professionalsDate Posted: 02/03/2017 | Posted In: College News, Student News
As part of the Futures Academy programme at College, students met with Esther Steel, a former Psychiatric and Orthotics Nurse and now Associate Director of Corporate Governance to discuss her career highlights.
Joining Esther for the masterclass was Learning and Development Practitioner Verity Cook, who provided students with an insight on alternative pathways within the NHS such as Apprenticeships and work experience opportunities.
Students on the course have so far visited the University of Chester, created a Radio Advert, gained interview experience and now met with a leading health care professional. Students will also visit London to learn about the history of medicine as well as visiting the Houses of Parliament. This provides students on the course with the experience and ‘competitive edge’ required for health related university courses.
From September this year, Futures Academy will be extended to students studying Business and Economics as well as Health and Social Care. If you are interested, please speak to Mr Fenner within the Careers Department.
