‘You be the Jury’ Mock Trial EventDate Posted: 08/11/2016 | Posted In: College News
Pupils from Harrop Fold School, Mount St Joseph School, Sharples High School and Smithills School school acted as jurors in the BSFC mock trial event on Wednesday 2nd November.
Defense and prosecution lawyers acted out by our own Law students, presented the case and cross-examined witnesses to get the truth. Following a welcome and law quiz about silly laws that still exist today, pupils visited the University of Bolton’s law court to take part in the trial. After hearing both sides of the gruesome assault, pupils voted whether the defendant was guilty or not guilty.
The event gave pupils an insight into the world of law and hopefully inspired them to study law in the future. Our next Law Mock Trial event takes place on Wednesday 15th February. ‘It was certainly and insightful and inspiring evening, helping pupils learn more about court room procedure and also where studying A level or degree level law can lead. We now look forward to a Spring visit from the sixth form pupils who have kindly offered to help coach our own mock trial team’.
