Secondary schools in and around the borough competed against the clock at Bolton Sixth Form College’s Annual Team Maths Competition. Teams from St James’s CE School, Thornleigh Salesian College, Ladybridge High School, Little Lever School, Smithills School, Hindley High School and The Elton High School battled it out for the much-coveted trophy. Tensions ran high as 52 Year 10 pupils worked together to solve mathematical problems of varying levels of difficulty.
Paul Buckley, Head of Mathematics at Bolton Sixth Form College, said: “As always there was fierce competition between schools for the prestigious title and trophy. Like previous years all participants found the event both enjoyable and challenging”.
The winning team, from St James’s CE High School were delighted to receive their trophy. The team members from Year 10 are Alisa Chukwu, Andrew Duff, Megan Latham and Bailey Patel. Close runners up were Smithills School and 3rd place went to Hindley High School. Well done to the winners and everyone who took part in the competition!
