THE SIXTH FORM BOLTON – CLOSURE ADVICE & GUIDANCE FROM 20 MARCH 2020

Date Posted: 24/03/2020 | Posted In: College News

CORONAVIRUS (COVID – 19) UPDATE

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

Following instruction from the government, we will be closing The Sixth Form at the end of Period 2 (11.40am) on Friday 20 March 2020 until further notice.

We will be switching to home online learning on all of our courses until the start of the Easter break (3pm on Friday 27th March) and recommencing either home online learning or normal operations from Tuesday, 14th April 2020. At the moment, we currently anticipate that this will probably be home online learning.

Students are expected to continue studying; teaching staff will set and monitor work via email, Moodle and/or Google Classrooms. If students need to communicate with teaching staff, please do so via The Sixth Form email system. The Sixth Form safeguarding systems such as ‘Stop Alert’ are still active.

Guidance for Year 11 Applicants:

Please do not worry about your place at The Sixth Form for September 2020. If you have already been interviewed and offered a place, your enrolment interview will take place in August as normal. If you have not yet been interviewed, we will interview you later in the academic year and we will contact you with details about this as soon as we can.

Guidance for Year 10 RAY Students:

As you will be aware, from Friday 20th March, the government has asked all educational establishments to close their doors to support their effort to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak. Although it is unclear how long this closure will last, we feel that the most appropriate thing to do is to cancel all RAY events for the remainder of this academic year. For our Year 10 students, this sadly means the university trip and graduation ceremony will not take place, but we will send out your RAY certificates in the coming weeks.

Guidance for Year 9 RAY Students:

As you will be aware, from Friday 20th March, the government has asked all educational establishments to close their doors to support their effort to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak. Although it is unclear how long this closure will last, we feel that the most appropriate thing to do is to cancel all RAY events for the remainder of this academic year. For Year 9 students, you will be unable to take part in your final RAY session of the year, but we look forward to welcoming you back into The Sixth Form in Year 10 and we will be in touch with the schedule for your future RAY evenings as soon as we have mapped these out.

Any further updates from The Sixth Form Bolton will be issued by the Principal via The Sixth Form website, Student Portal, Parent Portal, email, text messages or official Sixth Form social media platforms.

We thank you for your support and cooperation during these challenging times.
