Date Posted: 12/05/2022 | Posted In: Futures Academy, Health & Social Care, Student News
Our Futures Academy students have had a fantastic year with many exciting and unique opportunities designed to help them to prepare for a career in the health care sector. Exclusively for students taking Triple Vocational A Level in Health & Social Care, the programme includes a 35-hour placement at The Beaumont Hospital (BMI Health Care), masterclasses with leading NHS practitioners and an overnight stay in London.
The programme is designed to boost students’ academic and career prospects and offers a specialised one-year programme of study for able and ambitious students who want to go far in health-related industries by giving them a competitive edge.
BMI Placement
The Futures Academy group have been enjoying a fabulous schedule of activities during their placement at the Beaumont Hospital. The placement, part of the Futures Academy programme, allows our Health and Social Care students to explore the variety of departments within a hospital setting. Students are tasked with getting to know the patients on wards, monitoring patients post-surgery and observing live surgery as well as visiting several departments such as physiotherapy, MRI, Pharmacy, and Radiography.
Our partnership with The Beaumont Hospital continues to strengthen and grow allowing our students to have an exclusive opportunity to experience work within a hospital setting.

Sally Goodill, The Executive Assistant at BMI Healthcare gave our students really good feedback on their placement saying:
‘Maja and Aamena are having a very enjoyable time. They were in theatre this morning observing three foot surgery cases and enjoyed it so much that they are in there again this afternoon observing a total hip replacement. They also took it in turns to observe spinal anaesthetics. A day they won’t forget in a hurry.’
