Music student Etienne Collard enjoys summer success with Brighter Sound, PINS and RNCM!Date Posted: 26/08/2021 | Posted In: Music, Student News
We are very proud to share what Etienne Collard has been up to over the summer!
Etienne, who studies Music, Music Technology and Fine Art here at The Sixth Form, applied and was selected to take part in a project run by Brighter Sound. Brighter Sound is a creative music charity based in Manchester. They provided an opportunity for a special collaboration between Manchester post-punk trio PINS and fifteen exciting young artists from across the North West, including our very own Etienne.
Produced by Brighter Sound, A Week With PINS five-day residency took place at The Met, Bury between 26-30 July. Led by PINS and featuring guest masterclasses from a range of music business professionals, the project supports up-and-coming musicians to develop their creativity and collaboration skills, and learn more about the music industry. At the exclusive invitation-only gig, Etienne joined PINS on stage to perform as one of the successful residency artists.
As part of the experience, Etienne was also featured in a photoshoot with Asupremeshot and they recorded the music they created during the week at Edwin Street Recording Studio. The finishing touches are currently being made to the live recording of the concert and the completion of the EP, all of which is an outstanding accolade for Etienne!
Earlier this year, Etienne also successfully secured a prestigious mentorship at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) for 15 weeks with guitar student Nika Novak. Again, this has been an invaluable experience and also helped Etienne decide on a suitable course at university. Subsequently, Etienne successfully gained a place in the summer school at the RNCM in July. The Summer School covered individual advice for auditions, a band recording project, and performance classes with instrumental and vocal tutors. The school provides a unique opportunity to work with some of the finest teachers in the UK as well as the chance to meet, perform and socialise online with like-minded talented musicians who aspire to be RNCM Popular Music students.
Well done to Etienne for his amazing progress and achievements over the summer! We look forward to welcoming him back at The Sixth Form in September.
