Safeguarding

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is defined by the government as ‘The process of protecting children from abuse or neglect, preventing impairment of their health and development, and ensuring they are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care that enables children to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully.’

The Sixth Form is committed to the safety and well-being of all students and has specialist safeguarding officers who work under the remit of the BSAFE Team.

The Sixth Form has a forensic monitoring system called ESAFE and this picks up any misuse of The Sixth Form technology particularly focusing on any key topics that relate to safeguarding concerns. If student’s type in a concerning word this is picked up by a member of the BSAFE Team. A discussion will then take place to ensure there are no safeguarding concerns that require our support. ESAFE also blocks any inappropriate sites, preventing students from accessing them further promoting their safeguarding.

Technology is a large part of student life both academically and personally. ESAFE provide regular updates that provide information and useful tips for parents in safeguarding and supporting their children in the use of technology. These updates will be added to this site throughout the year.
