The young musicians from the Brighter Sounds programme with the band PINS (Etienne: front row third from left)

Etienne, a former Lord’s Independent School student, studies MusicMusic Technology and Fine Art here at The Sixth Form. He applied and was selected to take part in a project run by Brighter Sound last summer. Brighter Sound is a creative music charity based in Manchester that provided an opportunity for a special collaboration between Manchester post-punk trio PINS and fifteen exciting young artists from across the North West, including our very own Etienne.

Produced by Brighter Sound, A Week With PINS five-day residency took place at The Met, Bury in July. Led by PINS and featuring guest masterclasses from a range of music business professionals, the project supports up-and-coming musicians to develop their creativity and collaboration skills, and learn more about the music industry. At an exclusive invitation-only gig, as part of the programme, Etienne joined PINS on stage to perform as one of the successful residency artists.

The group have released a number of EPs and the newest one, released last week, can be found at

Etienne is really passionate about studying music and has really enjoyed the opportunities that studying Music and Music Technology at The Sixth Form has given him. He recently visited Spirit Studios in Manchester where he took part in workshops on Live Sound Engineering and Studio Practice & Composition. He’s also performed at many of our open events.

Etienne is looking forward to further develop his education in Music and was delighted to recently accept an unconditional offer from the University of Salford to study BA (HONS) Music: Popular Music & Recording.

We’re really looking forward to following Etienne on his musical journey.
