Our Futures Academy students welcomed guest speaker, Illyas Adam, to their session yesterday. IIyas, a Specialist Physiotherapist, is the Chair of Bolton Hospital’s BAME staff forum. He began his career with the NHS in 1992 and is a Specialist Community Physiotherapist in the community therapy team.
Illyas spoke about the myriad of careers available in the NHS. He told our students how rewarding his role as a physiotherapist is and how his main objective is to improve his patients’ quality of life. Illyas advised the students that it’s really important to gain an understanding of how different professionals work together to support each patient.
He gave our students some fantastic interview tips and spoke about the effects that the pandemic has had on people’s roles from across the NHS.
Illyas was really supportive of our Futures Academy programme and said that the students were extremely lucky to have access to such fantastic work experience placements and visits from such a broad range of NHS professionals.
Our Futures Academy is a fantastic programme for Triple Vocational A Level Health & Social Care students in which, amongst other things, they undertake a work placement at the BMI Beaumont Hospital, attend Masterclasses with leading NHS practitioners and go on a trip to London visiting various health-related museums and lectures.
