This is a bespoke event to give information and guidance about what to expect from The Sixth Form and some insight into what your daughter/son will experience whilst in our care. Our staff are on hand throughout the event to guide you through a wide variety of issues and important topics relevant in the transition from school to a sixth form environment.

  • Academic Skills Enhancement Programme – Progress Tutors

Find out how we can help your daughter/son develop their academic skills. Academic Skills Enhancement is a programme which every first year A Level student enrols onto as part of their further education curriculum.

  • Careers, Work Placements & World of Work – Careers Team

Find out how we get our students ‘career ready’, explore the work placement opportunities we provide and discover the value-added initiatives we run for all students to boost their employability skills on our ‘World of Work’ programme.

  • Pastoral Support – Sarah Ball, Assistant Principal

Find out how we will support your daughter/son during their time at The Sixth Form. Our Progress Tutors will oversee all student progress and achievements and work closely with students and parents/guardians to help and support academic progress. The session will also cover: Tutor group sessions; Learning mentor support; Safety and wellbeing – BSafe and Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

  • The Honours Programme – Simon Christian, Senior Leader

The Honours Programme is a bespoke programme unique to our Sixth Form. It is designed for students gaining at least six GCSEs at grade 7. Find out more about the distinctive set of opportunities for academic achievement and personal development included. This programme will give students the competitive edge they need when applying to the most prestigious universities in the country.

  • The Post 16 Landscape – Sandra McManus, Vice Principal

Find out about significant changes in the Sixth Form sector. Consider the importance of choosing the right course and the need to develop new and refined academic skills to enable students to be successful in advanced level studies and to be able to make a seamless transition, after progressing from The Sixth Form. This session will also discuss how parents can support their daughter/son on making good choices and developing a ‘high grade habit’ by investing in their independent learning strategies. The session will also highlight the breadth of pathways available post 16.
