Sixth Form Bolton Students Delighted to Receive Oxbridge Offers

Second-year students at The Sixth Form Bolton have been delighted to hear back from their university applications recently with a number of students receiving offers from Oxbridge.

Man Chun Kwok, who studies A Level Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Honours Programme with EPQ at The Sixth Form, has secured an offer from Homerton College at Cambridge University to study Chemical Engineering.

 Man Chun said:

“I would love to study at Cambridge. It’s a beautiful city, the university has a great reputation and studying there gives excellent opportunities. Simon Christian, my Progress Coach, really helped me to put my personal statement together and my subject tutors helped me to prepare for my entrance exams, especially Maria Lloyd. I want to study Chemical Engineering as it will allow me continue my learning in Maths and Chemistry, can lead to great career opportunities and could teach me to develop ground-breaking medicines”

Anisha Mohammed, a former Harper Green student, was over the moon to secure an offer from Merton College at Oxford University to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Anisha, who currently studies A Level History, Mathematics, Politics and Honours Programme with EPQ at The Sixth Form, said:

“I wanted to study at Oxford because of the excellent teaching and resources for PPE. I found the application process challenging but very rewarding. I was given support throughout the application process by my subject teachers with both my personal statement and the interview process.“

Both students are part of The Sixth Form’s Honours Programme, an additional pathway for students whose aspirations are to progress onto highly competitive courses at top universities. The programme’s goal is to offer guidance, personal statement support, interview practise and general scholarly improvement to help them to achieve their full intellectual potential.

Students on the Honours Programme get involved in extra and super-curricular activities and experiences, such as visits to top universities and cultural destinations. The programme helps build their confidence, develop their skills and knowledge and improves their chances of achieving a place at a world-class university.

The staff at The Sixth Form are all really happy for Anisha and Man Chun. Simon Christian, Senior Leader with Responsibility for the Honours Programme said:
