What really makes a portrait…you?
In this two-part workshop (2 hours across two weeks), we’ll challenge the idea that a self-portrait has to be your face. Inspired by the provocative work of artist Sophie Calle, who explores identity through objects, spaces, and personal traces, you’ll rethink what it means to represent yourself.
Through an experimental mix of photography, textiles, drawing, painting, and intuitive mark-making, you’ll construct a layered “self-portrait” that reveals something deeper—your memories, habits, interests, or hidden sides of your personality. Expect to play, combine, deconstruct, and reassemble materials in unexpected ways.
This is your chance to take creative risks, push beyond traditional portraiture, and create something that feels authentically you—even if you’re nowhere to be seen.
