You bring the drive, commitment and passion for your subject and our teachers will bring the expertise to support you every step of the way.
Those academically gifted students who achieve six GCSEs at grade 7 are automatically included and receive a broad package of support throughout their time at The Sixth Form Bolton.
The Honours Programme is an additional pathway for students whose aspirations are to progress onto highly competitive courses at top universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities. A high number of honours students also compete for prestigious higher and degree apprenticeships.
The best universities now expect future academics to possess a repertoire of core skills that are vital for 21st Century professional success. The Honours Programme will help you to develop these skills as well as stretch and challenge you to ensure that you really stand out from the crowd when applying to university.
The Honours Programme offers guidance, personal statement support, interview practise and general scholarly improvement to help you achieve your full intellectual potential. As part of the programme, you’ll be expected to commit extra time every week to this intensive support pathway.
You will get involved in extra and super-curricular activities and experiences, such as visits to top universities and cultural destinations. The programme helps build your confidence, develop your skills and knowledge and improves your chances of achieving a place at a world-class university.
The Honours Programme is a supplement to your academic provision, aimed to help equip you with skills in wider academic research, debating, leadership and critical thinking. During the programme you will work towards the following badges:
• Ambassadorship
• Enrichment
• Research Skills
• Social Action
• Widening Participation & Access Programme
• Careers
• Networking
• Work Experience
Evidence of the work you do towards these badges will be logged in your Honours Diary. Upon completion of the Honours Programme badges, students will have their hard work and commitment recognised through the presentation of the Honours Leader Award.
