Information Technology (AAQ)

Course overview

This exciting new course is a modern, future-focused qualification that equips you with essential digital knowledge and practical IT skills. You will learn how IT systems work, how to protect them from cyber threats, and how to design and build websites and databases. The course combines theoretical understanding with hands-on project work, preparing you for higher education or employment in the digital sector

Entry requirements

Students studying three A Levels and/or AAQs will be expected to have a minimum of two GCSEs at grade 5 and three at grade 4, including English Language and Mathematics.

Topics you will study
  • Information Technology Systems.                           

  • Cyber Security and Incident Management - threats, vulnerabilities and attacks.                            

  • Website Development - design, build and test websites.                                                                       

  • Relational Database Development - data structures, database management systems and relational design.

Key features
  • Equivalent to 1 A Level – can be studied alongside A Levels.

  • Two external exams

  • Two Pearson-set coursework projects.

  • Strong emphasis on transferable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication.

  • Aligned to higher education and future careers in the digital and IT sector

Students will be encouraged to:
