Bolton's Future Female Medics Prescribe Success

From life changing to saving lives! Two exceptional students from The Sixth Form Bolton are celebrating outstanding A Level results that have earned them coveted places at top medical schools. The high-achieving Bolton duo—Jhanat Riaz and Kulsum Safi have demonstrated incredible dedication and academic excellence, overcoming the intense competition and rigorous entry requirements of medicine. Their success not only reflects their individual commitment but also the strong support and high standards of teaching at the college.

Many of the students took part in The Sixth Form’s Honours Programme, an additional pathway for students whose aspirations are to progress onto highly competitive courses at top universities. As part of the programme, students study the Extended Project Qualification, receive tailored support for more complex applications to universities and have access to cultural trips and visits.

Jhanat Riaz, 2025 Sixth Form Bolton Achiever

Jhanat Riaz, a former Bolton Islamic Girls School student, was over the moon to achieve outstanding results and will now study Medicine at The University of Manchester. She achieved straight A grades

in A Level Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, and an A* in her Extended Project Qualification.

 Jhanat said of her results:

“It’s life changing to receive my results today. Thank you to my amazing teachers, they have supported me through this journey, and I am eternally grateful.”

Kulsum Safi who joined The Sixth Form from Madrsatul Imam Muhammad Zakariya in Bolton, is also off to The University of Manchester to study Medicine and was delighted to achieve an A in A Level Computer Science, two grade Bs in Chemistry and Mathematics and an A* in her Extended Project Qualification.

Kulsum wanted to “thank my amazing teachers for being insanely supportive.  I truly wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them.”

In The Sixth Form’s most recent Ofsted report it stated that “students are ambitious and have clear aspirations for their future” and this is certainly the case for this group of ambitious young ladies.

The best of luck to our future female doctors, everyone at B6 is so proud of you!
