George Regan celebrating on Results Day
The Sixth Form Bolton is proud to announce that several of its outstanding students have secured coveted places at Durham University - one of the UK's most prestigious and globally recognised institutions. Ranked among the world’s top 100 universities in the QS World University Rankings and as England’s third-oldest university, Durham is renowned for academic excellence and intellectual rigor.
Among this year’s high achievers is former Co-op Academy Walkden student George Regan, who is set to study Mathematics and Statistics at Durham. George secured an impressive A* in A Level Mathematics, A grades in both Computer Science and Further Mathematics, and an A in his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
Reflecting on his achievement, George said:
"I'm absolutely thrilled that my hard work has paid off. Securing a place at my first-choice university is a dream come true. I’m incredibly grateful to The Sixth Form Bolton for the incredible support and guidance throughout my studies."
Emily Chung celebrating on Results Day
Also celebrating is Emily Chung, formerly of Co-op Academy Swinton, who achieved D*DD in Triple Vocational Business. Emily will now pursue a degree in Accounting and Finance at Durham — a competitive course at one of the UK’s leading business faculties.
“I’m so pleased to receive my results and know that my place at Durham is confirmed. My time at The Sixth Form has been amazing, and I’m thankful to all the business teachers who supported me every step of the way.”
Matthew Entwistle celebrating on Results Day
Joining them is Matthew Entwistle, a former Harper Green School student, who earned an A in A Level Accounting, a Distinction* in Vocational Performing Arts, a C in A Level Economics, and a B in his EPQ. Matthew is now preparing to begin his studies at Durham, fulfilling a long-held aspiration.
“Getting into my dream university is an incredible feeling,” said Matthew. “The journey has taken a lot of dedication, and I’m proud to see it all come together today.”
Principal Stuart Merrills commented:
“We are immensely proud of all our students for their exceptional achievements. Gaining admission to a world-class institution like Durham is no small feat, and it reflects both their talent and their determination. We look forward to seeing all they go on to achieve.”
A heartfelt congratulations to all our students — your futures are bright, and your potential is boundless.
