Some of The Sixth Form’s Media and Photography students had the fantastic opportunity to hear from Sara McManus, the Director of RISE, before the half term break.
RISE 2026 is a one-day, skills-led leadership conference and expo designed for women who are building influence, capability, confidence, and impact across business, education, public service, technology, health, finance, and community leadership.
Sandra’s session at The Sixth Form widened the students’ understanding of leadership, equity, and ambition across sectors. Her insight into women’s leadership and inclusive organisational culture inspired students to see themselves as future leaders and change‑makers.
Sandra also provided valuable production opportunities for our media, photography, and digital students, who will support the event through podcast work, filming, editing, and photography. This hands‑on experience will strengthen their technical skills and give them a real taste of industry practice and networking opportunities.
During the session, Sandra explored key themes central to RISE’s mission, including women leaders across sectors, inclusive workplaces, the influence of mentors and allies, and the importance of broad‑based community impact. These messages encouraged students to reflect on their own leadership potential and the role they can play in creating positive change.
This event forms part of The Sixth Form’s continued commitment to nurturing student aspirations, developing confident leaders, and promoting an inclusive culture within our college.
