Second-year B6 student, Grace Robinson, with her recently launched book
A second-year student from The Sixth Form Bolton has been inspiring many people recently by writing and releasing her own book that explores her personal journey with anorexia, autism and OCD.
Grace Robinson, who studies Triple Level 3 Sport & Exercise Science with the Sports Performance Pathway at The Sixth Form Bolton, writes in her book about a battle that began during the Covid lockdown. Grace opens up about how the pandemic triggered a downward spiral into anorexia, stripping away her passions, including swimming, a lifeline she once relied on for emotional regulation. While her autism diagnosis helped her understand herself better, the isolation and stress of the lockdown intensified her struggle. Through sharing her story, Grace hopes to raise awareness of how devastating anorexia can be, but also to give hope and support to others who are struggling.
At just 18 years old, Grace is a force to be reckoned with. From winning the Sports award for ‘Most Improved Performance’ at Westholme School to swimming with the City of Manchester National Team, her accomplishments speak volumes. In 2024, she was even recognised as a ‘Young Achiever’ at the Global She Inspires Awards!
Grace is coming to the end of her final year at The Sixth Form Bolton and plans to study Sports & Exercise at Manchester Metropolitan University when she finishes. She is also committed to continuing her journey in swimming and hopes to train as a swimming coach.
Grace’s book launch took place in the Mayor’s Parlour in Bolton Town Hall and was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton amongst many other influential figures and family and friends.
Speaking of her new book, Grace said:
“I wanted to share my story to help others who are going through the same thing because when I was struggling, I felt like I didn’t have anything like this that helped me. I believe I’ve achieved a huge goal. I would like to say a big thank you to my mum, Julie, and Louisa Herridge who helped to edit the book.”
Everyone at The Sixth Form is really proud of Grace and looks forward to following her successes.
