Sixth Form Bolton Performing Arts Alumnus Releases Debut Single

Everyone at The Sixth Form Bolton was excited to hear that a former student has released her first single on Spotify.

Summer Helme, a former Fred Longworth High School student, left The Sixth Form in June. She studied A Level Drama & Theatre Studies; Level 3 Music Performance and Level 3 Performing Arts alongside taking part in lots of enrichment including the open mic pod performances and taking the lead role of Elle in The Sixth Form’s production of Legally Blonde.

Summer said her song, “Don’t Wanna” is about “feeling like everyone around you knows what they’re doing whilst you’re still trying to figure it out”. It was released on Spotify on 10th October and also features on Youtube as a music video.

About her time at The Sixth Form, Summer says:

“The Sixth Form genuinely changed my life! When I joined, I had zero confidence. I wasn’t planning on going to university after and didn’t think I’d enjoy sixth form at all, but I had the best two years! I’d like to thank all the Performing Arts and Music teachers for getting me to university and making me confident enough to release a song. After my time at college, I knew I wanted to go to university and that I had the right skills to do so.”

Summer is now studying Music Industry & Performance at LMA (Liverpool Media Academy). After university she plans to produce more music, travel and get signed up to a record label.

Sam Lawther, Head of Performing Arts is delighted for Summer saying:

“We always knew Summer was destined for great things. Her voice is incredible, and her talent needs to be celebrated by the masses. We were so lucky Summer trusted us with her 6th Form journey, and I’m so proud she gained the confidence to continue developing her skills at uni. We absolutely love her song. It’s full of heart and completely genuine, just like Summer. This girl is going places……watch this space!”
