Sixth Form Bolton Student Thrilled to Receive Veterinary Medicine Offer

Anya Patel

Second-year students at The Sixth Form Bolton have recently begun hearing back from their university applications, with several receiving offers to study Medicine and Veterinary Science.

Anya Patel, a former Sharples School pupil who studies A Level Biology, Chemistry and Psychology alongside the Honours Programme with EPQ and Core Maths, was delighted to receive an offer from the University of Nottingham to study Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.

Anya said:

“I was so excited when I heard back from Nottingham. I’ve wanted to study Veterinary Medicine since I took Animal Care at school. Since then, I have been determined to work hard and have pursued every opportunity I could find. The staff at The Sixth Form have all been really supportive. My Progress Coach, Megan Nicholas, recommended the Pathways to Veterinary Medicine Programme, which I attended and really enjoyed. This definitely helped strengthen my application. Jill Whitham, the Head of Careers, has also been great. She helped me prepare for my interviews and encouraged me to gain as much work experience as possible. I’ve had placements in six different organisations, ranging from working with animals at Smithills Farm to observing an eye surgery at veterinary practice, Medivet. I feel so lucky to have been offered a place.”

Anya also benefitted from speaking with B6 alumna, Gabrielle Hope. Gabrielle is studying Veterinary Medicine at Nottingham. She has offered Anya valuable advice on the application process.

All the staff at The Sixth Form were delighted to see Anya’s hard work come into fruition and wish her the best of luck in her exams.
