Sixth Form Bolton Students Attend Parliamentary Reception at House of Commons

Three Sixth Form Bolton students enjoyed a unique opportunity to visit the House of Commons after being invited to a special Parliamentary Reception celebrating the success of the Small Business Summer and Apprenticeships Work campaign.

Hosted by Amazing Apprenticeships, The Edge Foundation and Alistair Strathern MP at the House of Commons Terrace Pavilion, the event recognised the achievements and engagement of young people who have taken part in apprenticeship-related activities.

The visit gave students the chance to tour the Houses of Parliament, meet students from schools and colleges across the country, engage with MPs and key stakeholders, and learn more about apprenticeships, careers and the important role small businesses play in the UK economy.

One student said:

"During the day we went to the House of Commons as we were invited there to celebrate our commitment to the campaign for Small Business Summer and Apprenticeships Work. We talked to apprentices from multiple different career sectors and linked up to gain and share more knowledge and connections. I had a great time talking with the new people there and I really enjoyed exploring some parts of London and going inside the Parliament building. It was truly an exciting experience, so thank you for allowing me to be there."

The reception provided valuable opportunities for students to broaden their understanding of career pathways, build new connections and gain first-hand insight into the benefits of apprenticeships.

The event also highlighted the growing importance of apprenticeships as a high-quality progression route and reinforced the value of strengthening links between education, employers and policymakers.

It was a fantastic experience for the students involved and a chance to showcase the enthusiasm, engagement and ambition of Sixth Form Bolton students on a national stage.
