Staff at The Sixth Form Bolton were over the moon to learn that the organisation has been named a finalist in two categories at the prestigious Educate North Awards.
Recognised as the North’s leading education awards, the Educate North Awards celebrate world‑class achievement across the University, Higher Education, Further Education and Sixth Form sectors. The ceremony attracts more than 450 education professionals from institutions across the North of England, highlighting excellence, innovation and impact across the sector.
The Sixth Form Bolton has been shortlisted for the Student Experience Award (HE and FE sector) in recognition of its Policing Academy. The Policing Academy is a specialist enrichment programme designed for students aspiring to careers in policing. It offers practical insight into recruitment, training and life in the force, with immersive experiences including a Major Incident Day at Bolton Wanderers Football Club, public order training, lawful stop and search sessions, and structured interview preparation.
Careers advice is delivered by serving police officers and supported by alumni mentoring from Police Degree Apprentices. The ten‑week programme builds confidence, skills and knowledge, with many participants progressing into related degrees, apprenticeships and policing careers.
