The Sixth Form Bolton is celebrating the success of its Public Services students, with some of the course’s students sharing their plans for the future on Results Day.
After two years of hard work, commitment and taking advantage of the opportunities available through the Public Services course, students are now progressing to university and employment, with several already taking important steps towards careers in the emergency services.
Among the students celebrating their results was Ava Mosley, a former pupil of Smithills School, who achieved an impressive D*DD in her Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Public Services. Ava is now progressing into employment with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service as a Volunteer Community & Support Officer, with the ambition of becoming a firefighter in the future. Ava said:
“I would like to thank my teachers for being so supportive. I’m going to miss laughing with all of my friends and having fun in every single lesson.”
Former Turton High School pupil Logan Manning also achieved an outstanding D*D*D* in Level 3 Public Services and is joining Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service as a Volunteer Community & Support Officer, Logan hopes to build on this experience as he works towards his dream of becoming a firefighter. He said:
“Thank you to the amazing Public Services team for inspiring me and keeping me going over the last two years. It’s been a great experience.”

For students looking towards a career in policing, Amna Frmic, a former pupil of Smithills School, is heading to the University of Salford to study Professional Policing. Amna achieved DS* in Level 3 Health and Social Care, DS* in Level 3 Public Services and DS in Level 3 Children’s Play, Learning & Development. Amna said:
“Thank you to my teachers for always having the confidence in me when I didn’t have it myself and for always supporting me in my studies and being a positive figure in my college journey.”

Meanwhile, former Mount St Joseph School pupil Mukti Varsani achieved D*D*D* in Level 3 Public Services and will continue her journey at Liverpool John Moores University, where she will study Policing and Investigations. Mukti said:
“I’ve loved my time at The Sixth Form, especially all the enrichment and extra opportunities. A big thank you to all the staff.”
The Public Services courses at The Sixth Form Bolton provides students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed for a wide range of careers. Through academic study, enrichment activities and real-world experiences, students gain an insight into the expectations of public service careers while developing valuable skills including leadership, teamwork, communication and resilience.

Ava, Logan, Amna and Mukti are just some of the Public Services students celebrating their achievements this year, with each now taking the next step towards their individual ambitions and future careers.
