The Sixth Form Bolton Celebrates Russell Group University Success

The Sixth Form Bolton is celebrating another exceptional year of university progression, with students securing places at some of the UK's most prestigious Russell Group universities through both A Level and vocational pathways.

The Russell Group comprises 24 leading UK universities renowned for academic excellence, world-class research and strong graduate outcomes. This year, students from The Sixth Form Bolton have progressed to institutions including the Universities of Manchester, Nottingham, Liverpool and Warwick, pursuing highly competitive degree programmes across medicine, sciences, social sciences and business.

Among the A Level students achieving outstanding progression is Mohammed-Rayyan Riaz, formerly of Kings Leadership Academy, who has secured a place to study Medicine at the University of Manchester after achieving four A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and his Extended Project Qualification.

Mohammed-Rayyan said:

"I would like to thank my Science teachers who have helped me immensively, and the maths department as they are very organised. They have all supported me throughout my learning."

Alani Dumbuya, formerly of Westhoughton High School, has progressed to the University of Nottingham to study Psychology & Cognitive Neuroscience after achieving A* grades in Physical Education and Psychology, alongside an A in Biology.

Alani said:

"I can't thank my teachers enough. They have supported me through everything."

Another outstanding success is Cristiano Che, formerly of Outwood Hindley Academy, who has progressed to the University of Warwick to study MORSE (Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics) after achieving A* grades in Accounting, Business Studies and Mathematics.

Isla Butterworth, formerly of The Derby High School, has also progressed to the University of Nottingham to study Neuroscience, following exceptional results including an A* in Mathematics and A grades in Psychology and Biology.

Isla said:

"I've had the best time ever studying at B6 and have met the most incredible people!"

The success of A Level students is mirrored by those progressing to Russell Group universities through vocational qualifications, demonstrating the strength of multiple pathways to higher education at The Sixth Form Bolton.

Maryam Abbas, formerly of Bolton Muslim Girls School, has progressed to the University of Manchester to study Pharmacy after achieving an outstanding D*D*D* in Applied Science.

Maryam said:

"I would like to thank my fantastic teachers and tutors for always listening and being there for me."

Meanwhile, Sara Shokatyan, formerly of The Elton High School, has secured a place at the University of Liverpool to study Criminology after achieving the best grades possible across Applied Law, Public Services and Applied Psychology.

Sara said:

"A massive thank you to my teachers and progress coach for their continued support and believing in me when I couldn't believe in myself."
