The Sixth Form Bolton's cricket team has enjoyed an outstanding season, culminating in being crowned AOC North West Regional Champions after a series of impressive performances against some of the strongest college sides in the region.

The team demonstrated excellent skill, commitment and teamwork throughout the competition, earning their place among the best college cricket teams in the country and progressing to the national quarter-finals.

In the last-eight stage, Bolton faced a highly talented Newcastle Stafford College side, champions of the Midlands region. In what proved to be a thrilling and closely contested encounter, Bolton narrowly missed out on a place in the national semi-finals, losing by just three runs.

Despite the disappointment of such a narrow defeat, the performance reflected the quality and character of the squad, who competed superbly against one of the strongest teams in the competition.

The national quarter-final experience provided a valuable opportunity for the players to test themselves at the highest level of college cricket and will undoubtedly contribute to their development both individually and as a team.

Everyone associated with the cricket programme is immensely proud of the players' achievements this season. To become AOC North West Regional Champions and reach the national quarter-finals represents a significant accomplishment and highlights the continued growth and success of cricket within the Sixth Form.

Craig Thomas, Teacher of Sport and Course Leader for Sports Academy at The Sixth Form said:

"We are incredibly proud of what this group of players has achieved this season. To be crowned North West Regional Champions and reach the national quarter-finals is a testament to their dedication, resilience and commitment to developing their game. Throughout the competition, the team represented The Sixth Form Bolton with great professionalism, character and sportsmanship, and they should be extremely proud of their achievements. While it was disappointing to fall just short of a national semi-final place, the experience gained from competing against some of the strongest college teams in the country will be invaluable as they continue their cricketing journey. We are looking forward to seeing the new cohort next season and hopefully strengthen further."

Congratulations to all players and staff involved on an excellent season and for representing Bolton with such distinction throughout the competition.
