Vocational Social Sciences Students Enjoy Vision Day

Our Health & Social Care and Children’s Play Learning & Development students enjoyed an invaluable day off timetable this week to attend the Vision in VSS Day, a careers event here at B6. As part of the day, a variety of universities, subject-specific speakers and local employers came in to share their experiences.

Two of the talks were delivered by B6 Alumni with Lewis Roper, a former Outwood Academy Hindley speaking on ‘My Route to Become a Paramedic’ and Olivia Maloney and Emma Stott, both former Thornleigh Salesian College students delivering a presentation on where studying at Children’s Play Learning & Development at B6 can take you.

Edge Hill University delivered sessions on Routes into Teaching and Routes into Health, Louise McCarthy spoke about her work as a Social Worker for Bolton Council and Lisa Belfield talked about her experiences as a Primary Academy Principal.

Cumbria University delivered sessions on Nursing, Paramedic Science, Occupational Therapy, Midwifery, and Teaching.

We were also joined by Lissy Jowett, a Student Mental Health Nurse, Dr Sarah Parkinson, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Colette Fairhurst from Bright Horizons Nursery.

A huge thank you to all of the guest speakers for delivering such informative and inspiring sessions and giving our students such an interesting insight into your careers and organisations.
